For over 90 years, Tower Optical has built the binocular viewers that bring America’s most visited landmarks into focus. From the Grand Canyon to the Empire State Building, almost every American has used one, but few know who makes them. When new ownership acquired the company in 2025, the goal was clear: build the brand the machine had never needed, and take it to buyers who would choose to own one rather than just encounter it.
The brand wasn't invented. It was recovered from what already existed on the machine. Every viewer carries a red label reading "Turn to Clear Vision." That operating instruction became the identity's single accent color. The logomark traces the viewer's own silhouette, drawn back from the original patent drawings: a form unchanged for decades. The pebble finish and the textured zoom knob became the source for graphic patterns. Type is stacked and scaled to create depth, the way the viewer itself pulls a distant landscape within reach. The legacy of Tower Optical speaks for itself. The result is a brand built entirely from what it already was: an icon.
